about
Based in Naarm/Melbourne, The Frog and Company supports independent performance through producing, development, and publicity. We work with Australian and international artists to present new work and offer communications support for independent productions, particularly within Australia’s festival and fringe contexts.
manifesto
The Frog and Company is committed to the creation and presentation of new works, with a focus on clown, physical theatre, and embodied performance. Our work is grounded in the belief that play and irreverence are vital tools, and that laughter, surprise, and vulnerability can reveal truth as powerfully as text. For us, theatre exists not simply as a site of representation, but as a laboratory for thought, as a space in which social, political, and emotional realities can be tested, reframed, and reimagined.
Based in Naarm/Melbourne, The Frog and Company creates opportunities for early- and mid-career international artists to present Australian debuts of their work. In a context shaped by distance, yet sustained by a vibrant independent and fringe culture, we value international exchange as a means of bringing global practices into close and meaningful dialogue with local artists and audiences.
This commitment exists alongside a strong dedication to Australian artists. International exchange is approached not as replacement, but as enrichment, creating shared spaces where local and international practices meet, learn from one another, and expand what is possible within contemporary performance.
Alongside presentation and development, The Frog and Company also supports artists through tailored publicity and communications, offering PR support for independent productions, including those already working with a producer. This support grows from the same values that guide our artistic practice: collaboration, attentiveness, and a belief that thoughtful communication can help work find the audiences it deserves.
